LANI’S General Store began in 2018, following our takeover of a small sewing factory in the Kalihi area of Honolulu in 2017. From the beginning, we established an in-house production system—designing, cutting, and sewing our products locally—preserving the craftsmanship and spirit of Hawai‘i.

In 2018, we opened a small shop attached to the factory, creating a space to connect directly with our community. Although the shop closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to local production remained unchanged.

At the heart of our brand is Palaka, a traditional Hawaiian check-pattern fabric rooted in plantation and paniolo culture. Our Palaka hats and apparel are crafted in Hawai‘i in small batches, reflecting the heritage and hardworking spirit of the islands.

Since then, we have continued to grow through markets, pop-ups, and select stockists across Hawai‘i, Japan, and the U.S. mainland. In 2025, we opened a retail space inside the Sheraton Waikiki, marking a new chapter for the brand.

Today, LANI’S General Store remains dedicated to designing and making goods in Hawai‘i—honoring tradition while creating pieces for everyday island living.
